Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp’s first full year of operation has already ended. After reviewing the accomplishments of 2011, I am compelled to take this opportunity to commend the Board of Directors for a banner year. Together, we were able to accomplish all that we set out to do and surpassed many of our goals.
During 2011, the Corporation completed its organizational stage and began its fundraising efforts in earnest. The following are some of the highlights and accomplishments from 2011.
As our organization begins its second full year of operation, we will be expanding and diversifying our fundraising efforts, in accordance with our 2012 budget. Although we do not intend to purchase the camp in 2012, by the end of the year we will be one-step closer in making Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp a dream come true.
In conclusion, I would like to thank all of the individuals who supported Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp during the 2011 fiscal year. The efforts of the Board of Directors should be commended and the generosity of our donors is greatly appreciated.

- At the annual meeting in January, David Veilleux joined the Board of Directors and was assigned to Troop 160 Alumni relations.
- In April, Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp registered an Internet domain and launched its website (www.memorialscoutcamp.org).
- The first Troop 160 Reunion Camporee was held on Memorial Day Weekend. Twenty-five participants gathered at the camp for a weekend of work, fun, and fellowship. The cabin and grounds were cleaned, several improvement projects were completed, and the Goodwin Campsite was established.
- In June, Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp was granted 501 (c) (3) status by the IRS. The IRS further ruled that Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp was considered a Public, Non-Profit, Charitable Corporation.
- In September, an appeals letter was sent to over 100 recipients requesting financial support. The letter was received favorably and generated $995 in contributions.
- In October, the United Way of Androscoggin County approved the Corporation as a 501 (c) (3) payee. This will open up a new avenue of fundraising for the Corporation.
- The Board of Directors was successful with their first official fundraising project…The 2011 November Calendar Raffle. Two hundred calendars were sold and $1,285 was raised for the Corporation.
- At the December meeting, the Board approved the opening of the MSC Trading Post, a web based store that will be operated through eBay Giving Works and Mission Fish. The store is slated to open on January 1, 2012.
