Dear Friends,

The time has come to reflect on 2019, our ninth year of operation.  During 2019, 8 scout groups, scout families, and members of the general public occupied the Memorial Scout Camp at Spectacle Pond for 30 days.  Our scout-oriented donation programs continued to support scouts from across the USA.  We gave financial assistance to scouts who were attending long-term camps and made camping equipment available to scouts in financial need.  We increased our level of support to the Saint Martin de Porres Homeless Shelter by sponsoring a food drive to benefit the shelter, as well as purchasing / donating $400 worth of supplies.
  • In April, $1,200 in camperships were awarded through the MSC Campership Program:
    • The Craig Goodwin Campership was awarded to Tucker Lukas, Pack 622 BSA, Manchester, ME
    • An Adam Beggs Campership was awarded to Maurice Ampane, Troop 42 BSA, Quincy, MA
    • An Adam Beggs Campership was awarded to Adela Courtwright, Troop 166 BSA, Fort Leavenworth, KS
  • During the Labor Day Weekend, our Board of Directors completed the capital campaign to raise the funds needed to install a metal roof on Adam's Cabin.  A total of $5,510 was raised.  The installation of the new roof has been scheduled for the first week in May 2020.
  • In October, two scouts received camping equipment through the MSC Camping Essentials Program.  The following scouts were recipients.
    • Receiving Winter Boots
      • Jeffrey McKinney, Troop 621 BSA, Bath, ME
    • Receiving A Sleeping Bag
      • Madison Rose, Venture Crew 42, Quincy, MA
  • In November, Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp sponsored the seventh annual Scouts Against Hunger Program to benefit St. Martin DePorres Homeless Shelter in Lewiston, ME.
    • On Sunday, November 10, flyers were distributed to 1500 homes in the City of Lewiston.
    • On Sunday, November 17, over 300 bags of food were collected.
    • 21 volunteers participated in the drive...An all time record in participation!
    • In addition to the food collected, we purchased and donated dish soap, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, coffee, sugar, tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, and socks.
During 2019, the Corporation received income of $16,800.  The expenses of the Corporation totaled $10,967.  On December 31, 2019, the net value of the Corporation’s cash assets was $16,368.  The estimated fair market value of the Corporation’s physical assets is $81,300.  The total value of the Corporation is estimated at $97,668.

In closing, I would like to thank the Board of Directors, our volunteers, and contributors for their continued support.  During 2020, our organization should remain focused on Promoting Wilderness Camping - Supporting The Worldwide Scouting Movement - Sponsoring Community Service, as well as celebrating our 10th Anniversary.

Respectfully Submitted,                                                         Date:  January 17, 2020
Luc Caron, Chairman
