MSC Scouts Against Hunger

Beginning in May of 2021, the Memorial Scout Camp is partnering with Sheltered By Jesus L/A in order to keep serving the homeless. The shelter is located in the heart of downtown Lewiston, ME and is committed to assisting homeless men who agree to a program of self improvement, gaining employment, and becoming self sufficient.
The Scouts Against Hunger Program was launched in November of 2012. The program was designed as a food collection and donation program to benefit the Saint Martin De Porres Homeless Shelter in Lewiston, ME. From the program’s conception, until the onset of the Covid Pandemic, the program consisted of an annual food drive along with a purchase and donation program.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the program received a facelift in 2020. The program has now become a purchase / donation program. On the first of the month, the homeless shelter submits a wish list to our organization, we then do the shopping, and deliver the food and supplies to the them. The Memorial Scout Camp remains committed to supplying food to feed the homeless population of our community. We have pledged to purchase / contribute $200 worth of food and supplies per month, through 2021.
