The Neal Paulsen Legacy
Neal Paulsen was a lifelong community member of Scarborough, Maine. Neal will be remembered for his 55 years of service to the Scarborough Fire Department, decades serving local boys as a scout leader, and the hours that he spent behind the counter of his coffee shop.
Neal’s greatest joy in life was meeting with friends and fellow scouters to share stories and life experiences. He had countless stories and memories of his time serving as a Boy Scout leader, fire fighter and coffee shop owner. As Neal shared his stories, many people would say that he should write a book about all of his life experiences. Neal’s response was always, “No one would ever believe it”.
As a scout leader, Neal became an avid collector of Boy Scout memorabilia. Over the years, his collection quickly grew to include hundreds of scout books, thousands of patches, and countless pieces of antique scout equipment.
After his death in 2022, Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp was able to make arrangements to take possession of Neal’s collection of scout memorabilia in order to benefit scouts in need. The collection will be sold in the organization’s trading post to raise money to benefit individual scouts. All proceeds from the sale of the Neal Paulsen collection will benefit the MSC Campership Program and the MSC Camping Essentials Program.
Neal may have never dreamed that his passion for collecting scout stuff would someday become a legacy. His collection will be used to help send scouts to summer camp and supply scouts with essential camping equipment for many years after his passing.
