2015 Annual Report (PDF Version)
Dear Friends,
The end of 2015 marked the fifth year of operation for our organization. When we incorporated on October 13, 2010, our sole intention was to establish a memorial scout camp and make it available to scouts troops and scout families at no cost. Since then, Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp has evolved into an independent scouting organization that manages five programs dedicated to Promoting Wilderness Camping - Supporting Worldwide Scouting - Sponsoring Community Service..."We're Not Just A Camp Anymore".
The following are some of the highlights and accomplishments from 2015.
On March 13, we participated in the Pine Tree Council University of Scouting. This event gave us the opportunity to promote our organization and its programs.
In April, $1,600 in camperships were awarded through the MSC Campership Program:
In May, the Facilities Committee held its annual work weekend at the Memorial Scout Camp at Spectacle Pond. All of the large scale improvement projects slated for the camp have now been completed.
A 20 foot extension was added to the docking system at the Joe Beggs Waterfront.
New windows were added in Adams Cabin in an effort to brighten up the interior of the cabin.
At the request of our insurance company, the woodstove in Adam's Cabin has been removed and replaced with a blue flame propane heater.
The Memorial Scout Camp at Spectacle Pond was occupied for 41 days during 2015. It was used by 4 BSA scout groups, 1 scout family, and 2 private parties.
