MSC CITO
Cache In Trash Out (CITO) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since most geocaches - containers which "geocachers" search for using GPS technology - are located in natural areas, conservation is important to maintain the global geocaching community; since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places.
From 2013 to 2017, Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp sponsored five annual MSC CITO Events. During these events, participants from across the State of Maine, collected and removed approximately 25 tons of trash and illegally dumped refuse from the roadsides and public properties owned by the Cities of Lewiston and Auburn, Maine.
This program has been suspended with the hopes of revival some time in the future.
We encourage folks to learn more about CITO at Geocaching's official website.
